Week's End - Rosemary

That's for remembrance. It feels like it was last year, September 11, 2001. I had this pretty photograph from Design*Sponge in a photo folder. It's rosemary (no kidding) & the Shakespeare popped in. And then I thought, there...that is the way it runs...which is from Bellow's Herzog. Ian McEwan opens Saturday with a fairly long quote using that passage - to excellent effect. (Of course.) Which just means that I access too much free association & call it a post. Eh. Have a good weekend.

what a lovely pic.

I had rosemary beetles on my plant this year, but seem to have defeated them...

Thanks for your comment just leaving Malta for Sardinia.

It is my favourite herb. I am wondering though if my fellow commenters are not noticing that this is about the anniversary of September 11th.

I appreciate your free associating and adore McEwan's novels, including Saturday, which is an apt one to mention here.

So please allow me to extend my condolences to Americans and others who were in NYC, the Washington area, and Pennsylvania that terrible day. (Also, of course, to all of America.)

Fondly

Brilliant connection.

I'm at odds and ends today and thinking of all those who lost their lives both on this day nine years ago and in all the conflicts that followed.

Actually, I think I'm thinking even more of their loved ones.

Mental note: must read Saturday.

There's some rosemary growing on my street and I sometimes cut off a branch to dry it in my kitchen. When I rub my fingers against the plant, I take away with me the most pungent and sunny smell ever. I love it.

Hi Susan
We use rosemary here as a symbol for Remembrance Day... I think it a fine symbol for this tragic day also..

My heart goes out to all those affected and all the services people who put their lives on the line on that terrible day.

xxx Julie

To everyone (because I totally mess up on responding), thanks. I love rosemary, too. And I'm jealous of people who have hedges of it. Or have it growing on their street. I burn with envy. OK, not burn. Simmer, simmer...

Julie--Very cool about Australia using it as a symbol. I wonder if any other countries do...oh no. Another search?

cheers to all/Susan
