The English Muse wants a getaway & asked where she (we) should go. Her post, I'll book the flight instantly brought This Flight Tonight to mind. Except that song is an "oh what did I just do, getting on this plane." Yes, but no, but yes. Get on the plane & visit (move here), someone told me once. Get on the damn plane, he said. Upon landing, all I could think was: turn this crazy bird around...
The photo above is pre-Blue but JM wrote an astonishing number of well-known songs early in her life, recording them much later. I liked happening upon the early photo while looking for something else. But of course.

Update: Word from la Muse is that Paris is the consensus, BTW. Free man in Paris...la la la.

Ok, this immediately caught my attention - and took me back to the château in Strasbourg. Kim P. and I listening to Joni's album 'Blue' in my corner room on my little portable record player. Incense. Wine. "I could drink a case of youuuuuuu.....!"
Or nagging Fred Russell to play "The Last Time I Saw Richard" in 'The Cave'.
What man did we love who didn't love us back? What man professed to love us only to treat us badly? What man looked better in retrospect than he really deserved.
Liz reminded me just how ridiculously happy we were then. I agree, but would like to add that we were much too young, and too naive to really and truly appreciate it.
I'm going to think on this & write back to you, T. But it's interesting to me about the ridiculously happy thing. I must have been faking it a lot of the time. I found some pix from le Cave...
The "men questions..." Oh boy. So to speak. xo S.
What's the deal with all the blue?
