Let's Bring Back...

Those of you who read The Huffington Post probably know Lesley Blume's column, Let's Bring Back. (It's a new book) Here is the latest slideshow of 30 Things That Need to Be Brought Back - Pronto! You can waste some time (you know you want to) by clicking on your favorites. Most of them are on my list. Lesley's related Icons of Style series includes Suzy Parker. Another is the Marchesa Casati, someone about whom Hazel at The Clever Pup & The Clever Pup's Paris Notebook knows a lot. Here's a 2009 post, The Muse That Blew a Fuse. (I can relate. Ahem.)

I'm trying to pull together posts/drafts on Venice & Strasbourg, but way behind. I'd like to do them justice. Possibly I have spent too much time today looking at cool men in hats, supper clubs, manual cameras, library indexes, pocketbooks, etc. A bit of a Sunday (or Monday - hi Aussies!) distraction.

I spent sometime with the slide show today~ my two favorites are picnics and road trips!

Mr. Anything Goes Here is the Huffington Post reader in our family and I know he didn't see this! Joan@anythinggoeshere

Joan - I bet he didn't:) I'm having too much fun looking at slideshows, lately. Picnics sound good...but road trips. Um, depends w/whom, no? My father & the road trip = Pure Hell on Earth.

Simon--Good to hear. Someone has to. I would if I could. Aforementioned father who is hell on road trips--has many.

You know, I#d love to bring back all of these, especially manners nad keeping our voices down. I get nostalgic whenever my parents talked about going to the cinema in the past when they had the newreels and a B-feature too. Double bills would be heaven. I only write in fountain pen, prefer letters to emails and also put nameplates in my books. Sometimes i think I was born in the wrong age.

Well, he's hell when not on a road trip so...seriously. He's an awful bully. Dreadful.

I'm going to look up those columns though to be frank I avoid The Huffington Post at all costs. I hate Ariana Huffington and they treat many of their writers in a very lousy way (no pay, which is pathetic).

that is a fantastic column and i love each and every 1 of those 30 things! how brilliant. I love how she has picked on physical objects and ways of life... i can just imagine how it must have been when they all existed together. SIGH!

Jane - that's a very good point & I only really saw this now. I'm so sorry not to have replied.

Yet - Suzy was super, for sure. Love her, & her sense of fun, too.
