Miep

Miep Gies, a hero no matter what she said, died at 100 yesterday. She was the last living person connected to the Frank family. Her website is here; here is the Anne Frank website. Condolences can be left here. I was going to name a cat for her in November but then didn't adopt the cat. Will think about it for the future. I don't think she'd mind. I'd love to call out "Miep, Miep, Miep." (pronounced "Meep")

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today...it is nice to "meet" you...although I didn't know which blog to comment on. I'm assuming you are Susan and not feline?

The Diary of Anne Frank was one of the first books I read as a young child that truly made me feel something and realize that all children didn't have the life I did.

Hi Susan
I just saw a snippet of this on the news... She seemed like a fascinating person and I'll be sure to use that link to learn more..

You know when my niece was 12 or so she had never heard of Anne Frank's Diary. I was horrified that children weren't learning about this at school and promptly bought the book for her. I know she also passed the book to friends. In this simple way we can keep the story alive. x Julie

You must do that! What a lovely tribute that would be. And what a lovely one this IS.

I read her memoir about Anne Frank years ago and found it extraordinary. Such courage, such a great soul. It genuinely saddened me to hear she had passed away.
