Faute de Mieux

Travel, trouble, music, art,
A kiss, a frock, a rhyme-
I never said they feed my heart,

But still they pass my time
.--Faute de Mieux by Dorothy Parker

Sigh.

Lots of people who stop by here take terrific photographs. There's a contest held by J Peterman, here. Upload the ones you like the best by 15 April in the 3rd annual travel photo contest. Nothing to lose but a few minutes & you might win some cash or a gift card.

I'm trying to return & write something worth reading. Meanwhile...there's a person tweeting as the Bronx Zoo's missing cobra & it's more entertaining than I ought to admit. Sigh. Again.

Update - Beginning of May or bust. I'll be baaaack.

Catherine (w/a "C") - it's so funny. Very witty. Now there's a mouse, a badger, a mongoose, & I was just tweeted to buy "the true Cobra." I'm living in an animal cartoon.

Susan, I am awaiting your posts. Write about anything, you make anything you write about worth reading.

It's always great to read your posts Susan so I can only echo Angie's comments and encourage you to post about anything you feel like. Sometimes it's perfectly normal to sigh though. Lovely photo which inspires me to take more myself.

I have just added Giulia Geranium to my blog list, but has to comment here, since I can't seem to comment there, or is it me?

Until now, I have had Bricolage on my blog list - that was also the blog I gave some blog love 'pay it forward' some posts ago - perhaps I should have written GG instead? Both blogs are lovely, but since I only had the Bricolage thumbnail image on my list I have not checked in since it has been the same image for a while. For some reason, I clicked my way to the blog anyway and from there - to GG where I discover a whole bunch of great posts I have missed! So now they are both there:-D

Love the Amnesty posters!

Sorry for the stream of consciousness post...

Hi Carina - I'll email you tomorrow. But no, it's not you:) I haven't taken comments on GG for about, gosh, 2 years? I have to look. But I rec'd terribly mean comments on it back then & didn't know how to handle. I do now. I put a little note on the upper right side that said I'm thinking seriously of taking comments again. I'll decide in a week or so.

Cheers....Susan

A missing cobra - now that would be a great short story.
Or a poem by Dorothy Parker.
:-)

This is actually a comment for your post at GG - A Room with a View is one of my all time favourite novels and films! I love everything Italian and wished I could speak the language fluently. I took Italian in high school and was ok, but am by no means ok now. I love Elizabeth Gilbert's description about wanting to learn the language. It is so how I feel.

What's the story with the tweeting cobra? Did they ever find him/her?

Susan said...

Hi guys...back soon.

But, let me see. I emailed Carina re: Italia & Room with a View. GG post - go over & see the BBC language link. You can self-teach from that page. It's really nice.

About the cobra...She's been named Mia. (for missing in action:) she made her debut-at-the-zoo last Sunday. I might not be so afraid of snakes anymore. I swear. All this cartoonishness has had a good influence (maybe).

I'll be back soon. Oh, Mia is still tweeting, yes. She's asking for cupcakes with a saw inside. And talking about harmonicas & blues music. It remains funny.
