Roses in February

A slightly altered post from Giulia Geranium. Because that is the sort of year I'm having (so far). The David Austin Handbook of Roses 2012 arrived in the mail Monday. I really do place it on the night table for a flip-through. It also makes lovely gazing when in a bubble bath. Definitely order one here (it's free & beautifully photographed). Even if you don't have a garden, many of these roses do well in pots. And if you don't have a place for a pot, you might consider giving a rose as a gift. And if you're reading this in another country, you can probably order a catalogue, here.

Cheers.

How nice to think of flowers when things are rough. I love roses but had never considered growing them in pots. Thanks for the inspiration, it's about time I work on making my fingers greener. Take care dear Susan!

Hi there...I hope if you've not already done so, you'll order a catalogue & keep it nearby. Whether in Germany or UK, of course, you have access. You English Rose, you:) xoxo

Dear Susan,

I'm sorry to hear that you are not well? January has been a bit difficult here also. Here's to a better February for both of us!

I love those catalogs. It's been years since I had one. I just ordered. And if I drop it in the tub, I won't be upset, either. Ha.

roses- My pop built and named his small acreage "Pirilli" and he had a beautiful commercial flower garden, orchard, olive trees roses etc. I never knew why he named it this..
Well, there is a huge proerpty called "Pirillie" way out west and he workd there. It was renowned for its rose gardens and flowers, ( even in semi arid conditions). I like roses and always have because of his gardens

One of my favorite roses. We used to order a lot of them. Not as much anymore but I still have one going strong at home....heritage. A soft pink that is heaven scented.

Hugs
Carole

I love the heritage roses for their beautiful perfume.

I've tried growing roses, but lack a green thumb. So I resort to buying a dozen every once in a while.

Diane - love the Heritage. A good friend has two & is getting more this spring. Gorgeous scent. (& flower)

Angie - good solution. Having the catalogue on the old nightstand counts too:) Actually, ppl I know swear by David Austin roses in pots. They follow the simple directions & it goes well. I'd suggest a floribunda. Anyway, ordering a free catalogue can't hurt. xo
